“Even among women with household earnings above $200,000, 27 percent harbor the bag-lady fear according to a new survey.” Really? I was surprised that women in the upper class worried about living in poverty as they get older. Maybe the fear is due to lack of planning, lack of saving money or fear in the future of the economy.
My confession: Until 2012, I worried about becoming destitute when I retired.
What changed? I opened my own business that has serious earning potential that will allow me to retire in the lifestyle that my mother retired into.
Because of my past fears, I can understand why women fear living in poverty. If this is you, do something! Change your life! Don’t wait to win the lottery or depend upon any type of government program to assist you!
