When Money is not the Deciding Factor

By January 6, 2015Dreams

Money vs TimeNext week I start a new full time job. I will make less money, but will have more time to pursue my own business and to spend time with my family.

Rather than allowing money to be the deciding factor for my job decision, I am allowing how I want to spend my time be the decider. It’s taken years to get to this point. Thankfully, my own business is profitable and therefore, allows me to have a full time job that makes less money.

What would you do with your life if money was not your deciding factor?

It didn’t happen overnight. I knew 3 years ago that I needed to do something that would bring in more income for my family. I started my own business and quickly realized it could be a huge financial game-changer for me. I began looking for new jobs in the same retirement system that would give me more time flexibility to pursue my business.

Three years later, I left the IT department to teach 4 undergraduate classes at Mississippi State University, still in the retirement system and making half of what I was making one year ago. Yet, the real fortune is in the time that I will have when I’m not teaching. Time that I will devote to my own business alongside my family.

I would love to know – What would you do with your life if money was not your deciding factor?

Best,
Kathleen
