1 – Who Are You?
Yes, starting with who you are is important because question 2 and 3 build upon this! It’s basic. But can be instrumental in moving forward in your business with clarity! You want to look at 3 aspects of Who You Are:
- Personal
- Professional
- What Makes Me Different
Example: This is how I would answer question 1
Personally – I’m a mom of 2 kids, wife and an empty nester.
Professionally – I’m a network marketing leader. I’ve been in network marketing for 7 years. I’m a MAPS Certified Business Coach. I’m retired from Mississippi State University where I worked in IT infrastructure for many years and taught in the College of Business and College of Engineering.
What Makes Me Different – I’m retired, Empty Nester, 7-year network marketing veteran, I have a PhD
Do NOT make this hard! Keep it simple.
2 – Who Do You Serve?
This will take on the same structure as “Who Are You”.
- Personal
- Professional
- What Do You Want?
Keep It Simple – you don’t need to know a lot of ultra-specific information about who you serve.
Everyone is NOT your target audience!
Example – This is how I would answer question 2.
Personal – female entrepreneur, someone who is tech savvy
Professional – Corporate America career but may not be happy with corporate America, some college experience, a leader in their career field.
What do You Want? – Retire early or “on time” from their corporate america job. Travel. Have extra money for luxuries and family during retirement.
For many of us, the people we serve are going to look like yourself. We tend to appeal to people who are like us. There will be similarities and that’s ok. In fact, it’s the best way to keep this process simple!
Don’t overthink it, especially if you are new to network marketing.
Product or Business?
If you are in network marketing, you need to decide if you are going to focus on the product or the business.
Is it your product you want to focus on?
Is it your business opportunity you want to focus on?
You must decide your focus to answer this question. The advice I can give you is to select the one that you feel most comfortable talking about, especially if you are new to network marketing.
3 – What Problem Do You Solve?
People are looking for solutions to their everyday problems and pain!
Your target audience really wants to know – will this work for me?
If you can communicate your problem simply, they your target audience will say, “oh, that’s me! she just described me, my problem and how I can solve it”.
Bam! You’ve made a sale or an enrollment. It’s genius. But keeping it simple is key.
Tips on Defining The Problem You Solve
- People don’t care about facts, stats, details, ingredients
- They want to know; will this work for me?
- Keep it simple so people can understand and relate to the
- Problem you solve
- Goal you help them reach
- Benefit or Transformation they can expect
- What is the problem your product/service solved for you – go with that!
Example Problems:
- Home workouts that aren’t boring
- I’m tired of achy joints in the morning
- Feel good when I wake up with no snap, crackle or pop!
- How do I make money from home
- Recipes that even your kids will eat
- How do I get sexy eyes
- More time with my family (or maybe even LESS time with my family – ha!)
- I want to retire early
- Look sexy in my jeans
Focus on the problem, continue to pour into that problem with information on how you can solve that problem, you are going to have a GREAT FOUNDATION to build your network marketing business.
When your problem is defined, then you need to create content for that problem over and over and over again.
Give Value! By giving value, you are going to have confidence, you are going to feel better about what you are doing, you will communicate better – and all of this translates into more sales, more enrollments.
