How to Know It's Time to Change Network Marketing Companies

Knowing when it’s time to change network marketing companies isn’t an exact science. Switching network marketing companies is a Business Decision made with careful consideration and research. You should not switch companies based on a quick decision or emotions.

There are 3 main reason why you want to consider changing network marketing (or MLM) companies.

1.  Something Changes with the Company

2.  Something Changes with the Industry

3.  Something Changes with You

1. Something Changes with the Company

The Company is Declining – Don’t look at weekly or monthly trends in the company. Examine the yearly trends. If you are with a company and sales have declined steadily for 2 years, it may be time to consider other companies.

The Executive Team is Ineffective – A trend lately with some companies has been to hire executives who are outside of the network marketing industry. Insight from people outside of the industry is useful. But if the executive/management team is heavily skewed towards people who don’t have a background in network marketing, this is a sign to examine the company more closely.

Too Much Change – Change at the corporate headquarters is inevitable. But if the management team is constantly changing and bad decisions are never be corrected, it’s time to consider options.

Product Problems – Look at the core products you and your team PERSONALLY sell each quarter. How are those products selling? Are the core products standing the test of time?

Product Formulations – Changes in the product formulations are meant to enhance product sales. However, some formulation changes hurt sales. Has a formulation change in the past 2 years bring about a decline in sales?

Technology Problems – Is your company staying current with ecommerce, web sites, shipping, etc.? Selling online is key to any company. Customers are sophisticated and expect stellar online experiences. Has your company experienced a bad technology meltdown in the past 2 years?

Something Changes in the Industry

Where, How and Why We Purchase – The “economy” has changed drastically in the past 10 years which has affected the network marketing industry. Think about your own purchasing and how that has changed in the past 10 years. How much of your shopping is done online vs local stores? The age of Internet Influencers, YouTube and Social Media has changed how we research products and companies.

More Options for a “Side Income” – The options that are available for you to make a side income have exploded! You can now make money with Uber, Amazon, Etsy, Airbnb, Affiliate Marketing, etc. Therefore, th competition for attracting consultants to the network marketing industry.

New Technologies – New communication technologies have changed industries. And new Biotechnologies have changed how products are made and even expanded product categories.

Something Changes with You

People & Needs Change – Your passion 10 years ago may not be your passion today. That may be enough to change companies.

Team Culture is Stagnant – The team culture no longer represents you. As you grow in the network marketing profession, your professional needs change. You may discover than the team culture hasn’t matured and grown as you have grown individually. This is a major consideration in changing companies.

Things That Keep You From Making a Company Change

What People ThinkWhen you are considering a new network marketing company, if you are worried what other people will think, STOP!

Guess what?  Nobody cares! Other people are wrapped up in their own life and they don’t care what company you are in.

Seriously, the people who are going to “hate” on you for changing companies are in the company you are leaving. But, if you are making a good business decision for yourself and your family, that is all that matters.

Company LoyaltyBeing in the network marketing industry is like any other job. People change jobs and work for different companies. Facts don’t lie:

According to a 2019 report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, people born between 1957 and1964 held an average of 12.3 jobs from age 18 to 52 (https://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/nlsoy.pdf).

Goodness of Fitlook at the overall “Goodness of Fit” for you! Examine the company, the industry and your personal/professional needs. It’s not about a company being “better” than another. It’s about you, your professional life, your family and if the company is a good fit.

A Business DecisionUltimately, you must make a good BUSINESS decision. It’s not about what anyone will think or trying to make people happy. If you want to make money and have a career with network marketing – it’s a business decision!

In conclusion, you want to consider 3 main areas when changing network marketing companies – something changes with the company, industry or with you. The areas in this post should give you plenty of information to research before making a decision on which company is the best fit for you.  Good luck with your endeavors in the network marketing industry!
